PORT OF CENTRALIA OPPORTUNITY ZONE DESIGNATION
OPENS DOOR FOR NEW INVESTMENT AND JOBS
Centralia, Wash. — The Port of Centralia is excited to announce that its industrial park area has been selected as part of Washington’s new Opportunity Zones 2.0 program.
The designation follows a statewide review process in which Governor Bob Ferguson selected 99 Opportunity Zones from 152 applications submitted across Washington. The Port of Centralia’s census tract was chosen because of its strong potential to attract private investment, support new development, and create jobs in Lewis County.
For the Port of Centralia, the Opportunity Zone designation is expected to make Port properties more attractive to companies looking to expand or locate in Lewis County. The designation provides additional incentives for private investment in planned industrial and commercial development, supporting projects that can create family-wage jobs, improve infrastructure, strengthen the local economy, and expand the tax base.
The designation also reflects a collaborative effort among the Port of Centralia, Economic Alliance of Lewis County, local governments, and private-sector partners to position the area for continued growth and investment.
“This is great news for our community,” said Amy Graber, Executive Director. “The Opportunity Zone designation gives us another tool to attract businesses, create family-wage jobs, and continue building a strong economic future for Centralia.”
“We have available land and a workforce ready to support new opportunities,” said Port Commissioner Ally Pickard. “This designation helps put Lewis County on the map for future investment.”
The Port of Centralia remains committed to creating jobs, supporting local businesses, and investing in projects that benefit the community for generations to come.
Founded in 1986, the Port of Centralia operates three industrial and commercial parks supporting a diverse mix of businesses. The Port’s more than 30 tenants include WinCo Foods,
Sierra Pacific Industries, Walmart, UNFI and STIHL Northwest.
