A metal and plastic packaging supply company with operations in Washington and Utah has signed a lease with the Port of Centralia to occupy a 30,000-square-foot facility used most recently as The Chronicle’s printing facility.
Price Container is the new tenant. The company is a division of TricorBraun, a St. Louis-based packaging company, which purchased the company last year.
According to a news release from the port, Price Container provides both off-the-shelf packaging products and custom options to agriculture, cosmetics, food, industrial, pharmaceuticals and beverage industries.
“We are very happy that Price Container chose our site for their operations. We believe that they will be an excellent fit for our community and we look forward to a long-term working relationship with them,” said Port Commissioner Kyle Markstrom in a statement.
About a dozen people are expected to be employed at the facility, port Executive Director Kyle Heaton said at an Aug. 4 port meeting.
“We are pleased to find a location at the Port of Centralia to suit our needs. We are excited to get this new facility operational and look forward to serving our valued customers’ needs from the new Centralia location,” said Ryan Price, senior vice president of Price Container, in a statement.
The Chronicle closed its printing division in 2019. The newspaper is now printed by Sound Publishing.
